- OUTREACH PROGRAMME TO CALCUTTA BLIND SCHOOL
On the 5th of November, we the students of class – VIII visited Calcutta Blind School for our outreach
programme. This school was made by Lal Behari Shah in 1846. First we saw the things made by the visually
challenged people with normal sewing and knitting machines and tapes. Then we had an interactive session
with the students where we introduced ourselves and sang songs for them. In return, one of them too sang a
Tagore song for us. We saw how they wrote in Braile. Then we saw the special maps and globe made for them
and we also saw how they do geometry with the help of rubber bands and peg boards. Then we came to know how
they work on computer and mobile phone with the help of special software. The experience was very enriching
and we understood that visually challenged people are no less than us. We realized that disability of a person
can never be an inability and we are really very happy to spend some time with them. We are very thankful to
Sister Nirmala and Mrs. Basu for allowing us to go, Mrs. S. Sen and Ms. R. Kaur for accompanying us and
Ms. S. Bhattacharyya and Mrs. S. Sen for arranging the outreach programme for us.
- VISIT TO MOTHER HOUSE BY CLASS VIII's
On the 4th of November, both the sections of Class VIII visited the Mother House. While the
section 2s visited it in the first half of the day, the section 1s visited it in the latter half of it.
Two sisters were there to welcome us when we arrived and they led us inside. Firstly, we were lined up
and led to Mother Teresa’s humble abode; her very own room. Next, we were taken to her tomb, where we
sat in silence for a few moments as a sign of respect to the great soul. Some other people were also
present there. After that, we visited the museum which exhibited Mother’s personal belongings, like her
handwritten letters, stationery, spiritual exhortation and other items of high historic and spiritual value.
Lastly, we visited the chapel, where we all sat down and silently prayed along with some other Sisters. The
quiet ambience allowed us to think freely and contemplate, while in the Almighty’s presence. It made us realize
that even though this great messiah was no more, her spiritual presence and power still flowed through the
premises and maintained an atmosphere that was peaceful, yet overwhelming at the same time. On behalf of
the students of Class VIII, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sr. Nirmala and Mrs. Basu,
for granting us their permission to go there, where we were able to reflect on our subconscious and receive
much of inspiration. Last but not the least; I would like to thank Mrs. Sen, Mrs. Putatunda, Mrs. Joshi and
Mrs. Ojha for accompanying us to the Mother House. Thank you so much – we really feel it was an
extremely satisfying and worthwhile visit and would be delighted to go there again someday.

- THE DRAWING COMPETITION
It was a Thursday on 8.12.2016 and I was so excited for the next day, as I was chosen for the drawing competition held in the National High School for boys. There were more than 31 girls who were also chosen for the competition on Friday. It was not actually a drawing competition but a painting one. It started at 9:00 am as everyone was waiting for the topics to be given. Just after the topics were given out, the hall went quiet and some sounds like the sharpening of pencils, opening boxes of paints and scribbling sounds reached my ears. As the day unfolded, everyone began to submit their paintings and proceed to receive the food packets. After about one hour we were called back to the hall for the results. With my fingers crossed, I tried to bribe God for the last time to make me win. As the names were called out, there was no sign of mine. But Mahak, a friend of mine did get a consolation prize, and I was very happy for that. I did get a bit disgruntled but recovered from my silly sadness, soon, after recalling the quote. Participation is important, but not winning. It was a very nice experience for me and I am very obliged to Miss Paul and Miss Rego, the teachers who accompanied us to help me make it a memorable one.

We conducted a lot of experiments with bubbles and made a soft long bubble. After the Bubble Show, we were taken to the High Voltage theatre. We want to mention here about the spark theatre exhibiting the magic of static electricity which is an exciting and unforgettable experience for us. During intervals we played with the vast variety of exhibits such as the talking Darrin, video racing, musical codes and frozen balls. It was a very exciting day for all of us, as we learnt a lot by doing a number of experiments. On behalf of the Class VI’s we would like to thank Sister Nirmala, Mrs. G.
