Description: India's 75th Republic Day was celebrated with great pride by the students of the middle and senior section on 26th January 2024.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial March past where all the houses, led by their captains, marched their way to the grounds.
In the words of Jawaharlal Nehru, “In the tapestry of human History, India stands as a testament to abundance – abundance of spirituality, knowledge, and natural beauty.” Keeping this thought in mind, the theme selected for this year’s Republic Day was “India: A Land Of Abundance. The Chief Guest for this year’s programme was Mr.Sovan Dev Chattopadhyay Minister-in-Charge, Department of Agriculture and Parliamentary Affairs in the Government of West Bengal. The theme was expressed by the students through enactments, dances, showcasing various harvest festivals of India. Our country’s diverse heritage was portrayed through a presentation of the song “oi Ujjolo din“ which ignited the feeling of patriotism amongst all. The programme also included dance presentations by the students of our Literacy Centre and Rainbow Home.
To conclude, our Chief Guest Mr.Sovandeb Chattopadhyay and our Principal, Mrs.A.Gomes, emphasized that Republic Day is an occasion to recall our foundational values and principles of Justice, Liberty, Equality and Democracy. Guided by the sagacity of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the spirit of the Constitution, imbued with these foundational values and principles, all of us at Loreto House renewed our commitment to building a nation that stands tall in its diversity.
