Description: The Polemics Club of Loreto House conducted the first ever Online Interhouse Debate Competition on the 13th, 14th and 15th of August, 2020. Participants for the debate were chosen after several rounds of auditions. All three motions were centered around burning issues which affected the entire nation as it was held over the Independence Day week. The six Houses were divided into two pools which debated in Oxford format. Keller and Kennedy House emerged winners in their respective pools and qualified for the finals in the Cambridge format. Umika Panda of Keller House and Ananya Chatterjee of Kennedy House won Best Speaker positions in their respective pools. The motions debated in these pools were “It is time to end caste-based reservations in India to bring about social equality.” & “India needs a Uniform Civil Code to be a truly secular state."
