B. CLUB ACTIVITIES
YCS/CLC
YCS Office Bearers attended the YCS General Meeting on July 12, 2014. All the member
school presented their Reports for the academic session 2013-14 and their Proposed Plan of
Activities for the academic session 2014-15.The Meet was addressed by Bishop Rev Thomas.
The Office Bearers for the new DEXCO Committee were appointed.
2) Polemics-The Debate Society
The Debate Society participated in the L.N. Birla Memorial Debate organized by Birla
High School and the Frank Anthony Memorial Debate organized by ISC Council. They also
participated in the X-Mun organized by St. Xavier’s Collegiate School and The Peace Mission
Mun organized by St. Thomas Boys’ School.
3) Nature Club
Members of the Nature Club participated in ‘Creation’ the Nature Fest organized by
La Martiniere for Girls and won the trophy at the Ingenium Nature Fest of St. Xavier’s
Collegiate School.
C. INTER-SCHOOL PARTICIPATION
The Students gave a good account of their talents at Karmayatra, the Inter-School Fest
organized by the Interact Club of La Martiniere.
D. INTE- HOUSE ELOCUTION CONTEST
The Inter-House Vernacular Elocution Contest was organized by Keller House. In the Hindi
Elocution Contest, the best speaker in the Middle School was Hiya Vasa of Mary Ward House.
The second place was won by Srishti Bafna of Naidu House. In the Senior School Category, the
first prize was jointly shared by Srijita Pal of Gandhi House and Barkha Sekhar of Keller House.
The second place went to Shimona Francis of Tagore House.
In the Bengali Elocution Contest the best speaker in the middle school category was Atreyi
Chanda of Naidu House and the second place was won by Meghna Ghosh of Keller House. In the
senior school category the first place went to Rishika Ray of Naidu House and the second place
went to Anoushka Mitra of Gandhi House.
E. TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAMMES
Mrs E.Palmer and Ms.Margaret D’Costa attended a workshop on Innovative and Non-
conventional methods of Teaching Mathematics organized by Pearson Longman. Use of simple
aids like dice and cards and games like Ludo to teach mathematical operations and Napier’s
Bones to help children learn their tables, made the session interesting.
F. FAREWELL
The School bid farewell to Mrs. Sushmita Sen, our Computer teacher. She was not only the
backbone of the Computer Department, but also worked tirelessly to fix time-tables and
examination schedules and was the school’s resource person for all ISC and ICSE related
matters. She will be missed by the staff and students.
