Labour Day Celebration
On 29th April, 2015, the students of class ten presented a programme on the occassion of Labour's Day in the school in appreciation of the efforts of the workers and helpers of the school. Within just a week's practice, they presented a meaningful Prayer Service and a colourful variety programmes under the able guidance of their class teachers, Mrs. S. Singh and Mrs. R. Das. Parents contributed generously towards the gifts given to the workers while the school provided lunch. Each helper was also given a beautifully crafted card with the message of thanks by the students. The workers were delighted with the celebration and appreciated the students' efforts to felicitate them. The programme was graced by the presence of our Mother Superior - Sr. Mary and our Principal - Sr. Phyllis and the senior teachers of the school.

Bosco Chriz
The Christian Llife Community (CLC) unit of Loreto House participated in Bosco Chriz which was held on 3rd May, 2015. Having participated in many events, the Christian students of classes XI and XII performed very well. First in skit first in singing (solo) second in painting second in dancing.

Orientation Programme For Class VI
On the 5th of May 2015 the Orientation Programme for Middle School, parents of Class VI were held at 11 a.m in our School hall. The programme began with a prayer service followed by a dance recital by some of the pupils of Class VI. Our Principal Sr. Phyllis addressed the gathering after which our middle school coordinator Mrs. I. Burman made a power point presentation. This was followed by an open house and parents asked a few questions which was answered very effectively by our Principal Sr. Phyllis. The parents sat back while their dear daughters came forward and presented them with a scroll made by them to tell their parents how much they loved them. It was the most touching moment, most of the parents were overwhelmed with emotions. The programme ended on that note.

Fashion Show
On the 7th of May, 2015, Mary Ward House organized the Inter-House Creative Fashion Show. The topic of the Fashion Show was “Around the World” and all the Houses centered their themes like “Elements of the Earth” and “Woman Empowerment” around the main topic. The event was a huge success with participants modeling clothes from various countries like Brazil, Egypt, Africa and Australia. The costumes were designed by the students themselves and were extremely creatively executed. The music was well selected. Kennedy House was declared the winner of the event.

Dia Verde (Green Day)
The L.T.Sers of Kolkata celebrated the World Environment Day at an event named ‘Dia Verde’ (Green Day) at Frank Anthony Public School on 7th June,2015. During the event, the L.T.Sers were shown two presentations, one on kinds of waste, their proper segregation, collection and disposal and the other on e-waste. At the group activities, L.T.Sers made bird feeders, sparrow houses, placards and created things out of e-waste. The day helped L.T.Sers to be more aware of their role as green warriors, helping to preserve the environment.

Teen Ductus (L.T.S. Sangam)
Teen Ductus (originally named ’L.T.S. Sangam’) is an annual event organised by the L.T.Sers. This year it was held on 12TH July, 2015 at Shri Shikshayatan School. It was well attended by L.T.Sers of different Kolkata schools including Loreto House L.T.Sers. L.T.Sers were grouped into different commitees according to their career choices. A professional volunteer assigned to each group helped the youngsters to clarify doubts they had in their career plans. Points of discussion in each group were also shared at the macro level. This was followed by a cultural programme. L.T.S. animators were also felicitated. The day concluded with the singing of the L.T.S. anthem and cutting of a cake to mark the L.T.S. beginnings on 2nd July, 1959 at Kurseong.

L.T.S. Forest Week (Back to Green)
The L.T.S. Forest Week (Back to Green) was observed by the L.T.S. Movement from 14th July to 20th July, 2015 at Girin Banerjee Park which has been adopted by it. During the week, saplings were planted in the park by L.T.Sers of different Kolkata schools. Loreto House L.T.Sers went on two days, 14th July (senior school) and 16th July (middle school) to participate in the event. The planting of saplings made a small but very meaningful contribution towards a positive change in protecting the environment.

Science Exhibition
A Science Exhibition was organized in Loreto House on 30th and 31st July, 2015 by the members of the Science Club ‘Eureka’ young scientists from classes 6 to 12 very enthusiastically and confidently demonstrated and explained experiments, models and chart on various topics covering Science, Mathematics and Computer Science. The event was inaugrated by Sheikh Imdadul Islam (Director, BITM). Children of other schools were invited to see the exhibition on 30th July, 2015 and parents were invited to see it on 31st July, 2015. The Science Exhibition was a great learning experience for the children and created a sense of awe and wonder in all.

Teachers’ Day Junior School Celebration
Today, September 3, 2015, Junior School celebrated Teachers’ Day to thank their teachers and express their love, through a colourful programme of music and dance. Conducted by the Class V students with the help of the music teacher Mr.Clarance Britto and under the guidance of the Junior School Co-ordinator Mrs.A.Gahatraj, the programme was enjoyed by all the Junior School teachers.

Teachers’ Day Senior School Celebration)
Teachers’ Day 2015 was celebrated in the senior school with traditional fanfare and warmth, a magical experience which showed once again the beauty of relationship in our school. A welcome song titled ‘Flash Light’ set the ball rolling for the two hours of delightful entertainment. The welcome song was an original composition and the use of flashlights while it was being sung was absolutely spectacular. Choreographed dances, band performance and songs were both visual as well as auditory treats for the teachers. Skits and a fashion parade further added to the entertainment, making the day a special one for the teachers.

Visitation Of The Loreto Province Leader-Sister Anita Briganza
9th September, 2015 saw the visition of the Loreto Province Leader, Sister Anita Briganza to Loreto House. Her visit began at 7:45 a.m with a lively and delightful interactive session with students of the Junior School. A special assembly was organised by class 9 to especially welcome Sister Anita. The theme of the assembly ‘ The Inner Journey’ was centred around the five elements of nature and how they influence human emotions. Sister Anita also interacted with the teaching staff, office staff,support staff, student council and senior catholic students.the principal, staff and students of Loreto House are grateful to Sister Anita for taking time out of her busy schedule to spend a full day with everybody in Loreto House.

Senior School Children’s Day Celebrations
A surprise awaited the children of the Senior School of Loreto House, on Saturday, 7th November, 2015. The principal and teachers had planned to celebrate Children’s Day. The programme began with a short prayer service followed by a greeting song. Teachers happily danced and sang on stage to entertain the children. A fashion show in which teachers walked the ramp was the highlight of the day. Continuous cheering and clapping by the children was an expression of their appreciation for their teachers and all went home very happy.

Mentaid
On 17th of November, 2015, the students of class X of Loreto House carried out their annual Mentaid social service project. Thirty specially abled children from Mentaid, along with six teachers and helpers, were ivited. The students of class X recited poems, sang and danced to entertain their guests. Many of the young children could be seen moving their heads or clapping in time to the music all throughout the programme, the students of class X sat next to the children from Mentaid and interacted with them. Brightly wrapped gifts and large boxes of food were given to each guest. Cartons of drink and gingerbread cookies (made lovingly by a student) were also given. It was an enriching experience, both for the girls and their teachers.

Childrens’ Day Junior School
‘Better Late Than Never’ goes the saying and though Children’s Day was celebrated almost a week later (20.11.2015). The programme was a big hit with the students. After a short prayer service our principal and teachers entertained the children through songs, dances and dramatization of fairy tales with a funny twist at the end.

Advent Mass
Advent is the season of celebration in anticipation of Christ’s birth. Our school celebrated Advent Mass on 05.12.2015. Fr. Raja inspired the gathering with a simple yet touching homily.The mass was followed by a beautiful enactment of the nativity by the children of Junior School. The original story of the birth of Jesus Christ was related to the hardship faced by people often forgotten- the orphans and the aged.The programme was concluded with enthusiastic carol singing and cheerful dance moves by the young choir. The spirit of Christmas had truly descended that evening.

We Care
An annual tradition, ‘We Care’ is more than a social service project undertaken by the plus two section of the school under the guidance of the principal and teachers. It is about putting ‘service’ before ‘self’. It was held on the 7th and 8th of December, 2015. We had 300 guests from 12 different old age homes around the city. An entertainment programme was organised after which lunch was served. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed the programme and after conversing with them, we realised these were the two days of the year they really look forward to. It was a deeply moving and unforgettable experience for all of us.

School Fete
Loreto House organized a fete to raise funds for their “twin” Loreto School in Panighata. The fete included food stalls and items of sale along with an amusement corner for kids, games stalls for all and a treasure island stall which was the most sought after stall. It was a fun- filled day for all and was a grand success in achieving its target.

Christmas Party For Loreto Rainbow Homes
On the 19th of December, the students of class 9 hosted a Christmas party for their friends from all the Loreto Rainbow Homes. The afternoon was well spent in an atmosphere of fun, games and food. There was active interaction between the guests and our students and the Christmas spirit brought cheer to the hearts of all present

Republic Day
Republic Day 2016, was celebrated by Loreto House students this morning. The theme for the celebrations was ‘Make in India’. Through a prayer service, songs, recitation and dances the students pledged to participate in their small way in the national ‘Make in India’ programme. The chief guest Mrs. Shamlu Dudeja, Chairperson of Self Help Enterprise foundation, said that it was the duty of the next generation to ensure the success of this programme and make India the manufacturing hub of the world. In her address, Sr. Phyllis Morris, Principal , urged the students to build character to make India into a super power and leader of the world.

Mary Ward Special Assembly By Class Xi
A special assembly was held on January 28, 2016 as part of the week long celebrations commemorating our foundress Mary Ward. It included a historical account of her life with the aid of a ppt and linked up her Maxims & Vision for ‘Women in Time’ the present moment, showcasing how some ex-students of Loreto House have followed in her footsteps through the work they do for the needy & abandoned.

Poster Making Competition
On 28.1.2016, an Inter-House poster- making competition was organized by class XI - Science as part of the Mary Ward Week celebrations. The houses were given one hour preparation time and they came up with beautiful and thought provoking posters based on the Maxims of Mary Ward.

Prize Distribution Ceremony For Classes X And XII
The first Prize Distribution Ceremony of this year was held on 29th January at 7:45 a.m. in the Concert Hall. Classes X and XII students were awarded trophies, medals and certificates. Momentos were given to all student-council members and office bearers of the service and activity clubs. Academic trophies along with trophies for co-curricular activities, social service, courage in the face of adversity, good conduct, all-round achievement and house awards were given.

Farewell Social For Class XII
On 29th January, the Class XII students were given a farewell by the class XI students. The theme of the social was ‘Inoubliable’- a French word that stands for unforgettable. The entire programme focussed on an incredible journey of thirteen years the Class XII students had, from their first day in school to the last day in Loreto House as pupils. The programme featured several dances depicting their Junior and Middle School days, including enactments of their favourite cartoon characters. A medley and a video clipping of their teachers was also presented. Drishti Doshi was crowned Ms. Loreto for a pageant that was an important part of the farewell. The day concluded with all the Class XII students dancing to the tune of favourite songs. It turned out to be a day they would cherish in the years to come.
